The annual plant sale and open day at Cornwall Air Ambulance raised the most yet from this type of event at the charity’s Newquay headquarters. More than £3000 was raised at Sunday’s event through plant sales, a pop-up charity shop.
Cornwall Air Ambulance has launched a two year programme in conjunction with South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust that see doctors flying on board the county’s emergency helicopter service for up to four days a week.
Cornwall Air Ambulance’s St Austell Superstore celebrated its third birthday on Saturday. The celebration saw aircrew paramedic Mick McLachlan in store to talk to the public about the lifesaving work that the air ambulance does.
On Friday 1st April Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall opened a new building for Cornwall Air Ambulance. The build was possible due to a grant of £241,000 of Libor bank fines from HM Treasury.
Cornwall Air Ambulance flew to the aid of 710 patients throughout the county during 2015. While one in four emergencies were cardiac related, the medical helicopter service attended 410 patients with illness and 276 with injury.
