Cornwall Air Ambulance’s St Austell Superstore celebrated its third birthday on Saturday 23rd May. The celebration saw aircrew paramedic Mick McLachlan in store to talk to the public about the lifesaving work that the air ambulance does.
All clothes were £1 for the day and the ever popular teddy tombola, a raffle and tea and birthday cake all helped to raise £1700.
St Austell Superstore’s manager Ed Connors said: “The public have strongly supported our St Austell shop for the past three years and it was great to see new and loyal customers celebrate with us on Saturday. We need a few more volunteers to help in the shop and it was great to show people what that involves, and to let them hear from one of our paramedics exactly how support from volunteers and customers keeps our air ambulance flying.”
Cornwall Air Ambulance has six charity shops around the county and volunteers help in each of them, sorting and steaming clothes, pricing, dealing with customers and arranging the shop windows.
