A quiz night in Truro organised by Barclays Corporate team has raised thousands of pounds for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
The ‘Test the Team’ quiz, held at the Alverton Hotel on Tuesday 7 May, raised an incredible £21,588 for the New Heli Appeal.
Thirty-seven teams from more than 30 companies took part in the general knowledge quiz. Entrants also purchased raffle tickets and bid on auction items to help raise funds. The winning team was Lewinnick Lodge and The Plume of Feathers, who won the prize of having their name on the new helicopter.
Karen Hurn, Barclays Corporate Head of Support said, “When Cornwall Air Ambulance representative, Barbara Corbett, approached me to help with her fundraising for the New Heli Appeal, Barclays were delighted to support. The team were proud and privileged to have joined with our clients, professionals and friends to achieve this fantastic result. Thank you to all at The Alverton and Barclays, along with the generosity of all who attended – we smashed our target.”
The event was sponsored by both the Alverton and Greenbank Hotels, who have each pledged to raise £10,000 for the campaign to help bring a new air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly by April 2020.
Stephanie Bray, Corporate Fundraising Officer for Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We are so grateful for the support we received for this great night. There was a fantastic atmosphere, everyone had fun and raised an incredible amount for the New Heli Appeal.
“Thanks to the team at Barclays for organising, the Alverton and Greenbank for sponsoring, and to all the teams who took part.”
