What kind of emergencies does Cornwall Air Ambulance respond to?
Our helicopter and paramedic aircrew respond to a wide range of medical emergencies and traumatic incidents. From medical incidents like cardiac arrests to severe injuries from accidents, our team is equipped to provide life-saving care on the scene and during patient transfers.
How quickly can Cornwall Air Ambulance respond to emergencies?
On average, our helicopter can reach the scene of an emergency within 12 minutes in mainland Cornwall and less than 30 minutes on the Isles of Scilly. This rapid response time is crucial in ensuring patients receive timely medical attention.
What helicopter does Cornwall Air Ambulance use?
We fly a Leonardo (formerly AgustaWestand) AW169. A twin-engine helicopter, capable of delivering advanced critical care in emergencies.
What happens during a Cornwall Air Ambulance mission?
When an emergency call is received, our helicopter and paramedic aircrew are dispatched to the scene. The paramedic team assesses and treats the patient on-site, providing essential medical intervention. If necessary, patients are then transferred to appropriate medical facilities.
Can I visit the Cornwall Air Ambulance base?
