In March 2022 Victoria was enjoying a day out at Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth when her right hip dislocated. In horrific pain and unable to move, Cornwall Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene.
The coastguard team arrived to provide immediate support to Victoria until the helicopter crew were able to land nearby.
Victoria said: “It was wonderful to see the helicopter circling, I was in so much pain. The crew were so reassuring, kind and gentle. They administered morphine, which provided instant relief, along with gas and air. They spared me a long time lying on a beach in agony. And I am sure the quick response has really helped my recovery.”
The charity’s critical care paramedics treated Victoria on scene and she was transported to hospital by land ambulance.
Victoria has recovered well at home and has since set up a monthly donation to Cornwall Air Ambulance as a thank you to the team who helped her that day.
