Members of the Cornwall Air Ambulance admin team and board of trustees are taking a break from their day jobs to take on a big challenge, raising money for your charity.

Donna Fisher and Bobby Billinghurst will be running the London Landmarks half marathon, which is just over 13 miles, on 2nd April 2023. They’ll be joined by Donna’s sister, Claire, and two Cornwall Air Ambulance Trustees, Neil Lentern and Laura McKay.

The race will start on Pall Mall, with the likes of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, the London Eye and Big Ben along the route, before finishing outside Downing Street.

The group have been inspired by Donna’s passion for running, which started about four years ago. She wanted to take on a big challenge for 2023 and encouraged others to join her.

“I’m looking forward to having those cheers from people, getting all the encouragement and representing Cornwall at the same time”, said Bobby.

They will be taking a knitted paramedic with them, and will stop to take photos with it at each landmark.

Donna said: “I run two to three times a week and I have a coach through the running club, if I’m aiming for something he always gives me a running plan. Because I’ve got other challenges for myself, and other races leading up to it, my aim is to be quicker so I can keep up with Bobby. That’s my main challenge!”

The pair say they are hoping to inspire other staff members and look forward to chatting to fellow fundraisers about their efforts.

Bobby added: “I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere and the crowds, doing it as a team and encouraging each other to keep going.”

The team are aiming to raise £1,000 for your charity, so we can continue our lifesaving work.

Donna added: “Working for the charity, we see first hand the impact people’s kind and generous donations have made. Every penny you give will make a huge difference and will help keep your helicopter flying and keep more families together. The service the charity provides is vital here in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and can only continue running thanks to people like you showing your support.”
