Cornwall Air Ambulance raised £35,000 at its annual summer ball on Saturday 16th August, this year called ‘The Magnificent Flying Circus’.
The hangar was filled with 183 guests and many wore circus themed costume. The highlight of the evening was the hangar doors opening to reveal the paramedic aircrew and recently recruited doctors standing in formation. There was an emotional response from the guests who sustained a long standing ovation in recognition of the lifesaving work the crew carries out.
The auction was extremely popular and raised £9620. The most sought after prize was a day spent behind the scenes on the BBC film set for Poldark and the unique prize was won for £2800. The raffle raised £1420 and the opportunity to win a flight in the air ambulance sponsored by the flight operator raised £1225.
Organiser Hayley Cayton said: “The ball was a huge success. Guests were treated to super welcome drinks and a lovely three course dinner thanks to The Round Kitchen. They then went on to bid generously for brilliant prizes kindly donated by local companies. Everyone enjoyed the evening and £35,000 was raised for the running costs of Cornwall Air Ambulance.”
