Air ambulance flies to woman with head injuries

Cornwall Air Ambulance flew to the aid of a women who had fallen and suffered head injuries in the Helston area.

Following a 999 call for help at 10.39am, on Thursday 18 January, the air ambulance paramedics arrived to find the elderly women’s injuries were serious enough to require hospital treatment.

She was taken aboard the helicopter and flown to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for further treatment. The Cornwall Air Ambulance pilot and paramedics then returned to Newquay airbase, ready to respond to the next emergency.

Each year, Cornwall Air Ambulance carries out around 700 missions throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. As a charity it relies on donations to carry out this lifesaving work. You can find out more about the work of the air ambulance and how to give your support here.
