Following the selection of Specialist Aviation Services as a preferred bidder in the ongoing process to bring a new generation air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall, the lifesaving charity’s Chief Executive Paula Martin said:
“Over the past year, we’ve been looking at bringing a new generation air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall when the lease runs out on the current aircraft, the MD902 Explorer, in 2019.
“This process is still ongoing, but we have now selected Specialist Aviation Services (SAS) as a preferred bidder to supply the AW169 helicopter. We will hold further talks with them over the coming months and look at the AW169 in more detail before a final decision is made as to whether we adopt this aircraft as the new Cornwall Air Ambulance.
“Due to the fact the tender process is ongoing, we can’t go into more detail at the moment, but we promise to keep the people of Cornwall updated as and when we can.”
