In 2017 the Cornwall Air Ambulance will celebrate helping to save lives for 30 years. As the first air ambulance to take to the UK skies, we will be the first UK air ambulance charity to mark this important milestone. The official birthday is 1st April but there will be events all through the year.
We need your help to tell our story. Were you airlifted in the first year, 1987, or in the 10th year 1997, the 20th year 2007 or anywhere in between? Did you witness an important event, for example when new helicopter types went into service, or when the helipad at Treliske was opened? Do you have photographs, press cuttings, or any memorabilia relating to the Cornwall Air Ambulance over the past 30 years, and if so would you share these with us?
We would like to pull together the very best stories and events from the past 30 years, and to help everyone celebrate, put them (or copies of them) on show in a special exhibition at the air ambulance base in Newquay next year. If you are able to lend or give us anything that could be of interest to others, we would be very grateful for your help.
And now for the best bit. We are planning a 30 years gathering for airlifted patients and the paramedics who have served on the air ambulance over the years. We will be holding this next year so if you were a Cornwall Air Ambulance patient in the last 30 years, (perhaps you were rescued and airlifted to hospital as a child) or if you were a serving paramedic, pilot or member of the aircrew in the past, please get in touch to let us know you are interested in coming to the event to celebrate. Even if you have recently been in touch with us to share your story, please contact us again if you want to be involved in this event.
To make arrangements to donate items for the 30 years story or to tell us you would like to attend the special gathering and want to put your name down for an invitation once the date is set, please call 01637 889926 and speak to our volunteer reception team.
