Cornwall Air Ambulance involved in two multi-agency incidents

Cornwall Air Ambulance was involved in two multi-agency incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday 5 October the helicopter was tasked to a road traffic incident involving a double-decker bus near Totnes which was declared a major incident by South Western Ambulance Service.

Cornwall Air Ambulance responded alongside Devon Air Ambulance and Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, arriving on scene at 11.49am.

Critical care paramedics Thomas Hennessy Jones and Pete Storer were part of more than 100 emergency services personnel at the incident.

They treated multiple patients on scene before they were transferred to hospital.

Cornwall Air Ambulance returned to its base in Newquay at 2pm.

On Sunday 6 October Cornwall Air Ambulance was tasked to a two-car collision on the A388 near Callington in which three people were injured.

The helicopter arrived on scene at 16:45. Devon Air Ambulance was also tasked to the incident.

The charity’s critical care team treated one person with life-threatening injuries, who was transferred to Derriford Hospital for further treatment. The team from Devon Air Ambulance conveyed a second patient with serious injuries to Derriford Hospital.
