Garden lovers will be able to pick up garden centre plants at bargain prices at the Cornwall Air Ambulance Spring Plant Sale.
From bedding plants to hardy perennials, there will be a wide selection of quality plants for sale that have been donated by more than 20 nurseries and garden centres.
The annual event attracted more than 800 people last year and will once again be held in the helicopter hangar at the Cornwall Air Ambulance airbase, Trevithick Downs Newquay, TR8 4DY, from 11am to 3pm, on Sunday 20 May.
Visitors will also get to see behind the scenes at the charity, including viewing the helicopter up close and meeting the crew of critical care paramedics and pilots. There will also be a pop-up charity shop, games for children and a raffle and refreshments.
All the money raised at the Spring Plant Sale will go towards keeping the air ambulance flying and saving lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Gemma Kidd, In-house Events and Fundraising Officer, said: “With spring well and truly in the air, our thoughts are turning to one of the most important and enjoyable events in the Cornwall Air Ambulance calendar – our Spring Plant Sale.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to pick up quality plants at bargain prices that have all been generously donated to us by garden centres across Cornwall. If you love your garden, this is a must-see event.
“The plant sale also doubles as an open day at Cornwall Air Ambulance, so even if you are not a gardener, there will still be lots of fun activities going on.”
Cornwall Air Ambulance carries out more the 800 lifesaving missions each year throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. As a charity it receives no government funding towards its running costs and relies on donations to keep flying and saving lives.
The charity has just launched the New Heli Appeal, which aims to raise £2.5m to bring a next generation air ambulance to Cornwall which will save more time and more lives for the next 20 years.
