Jonathan McCulloch, a member of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Philanthropy Forum and long-standing supporter of the charity, has been appointed an as Ambassador.

Jonathan, who works for Cornwall Council, first become involved with your charity around 10 years ago. As a horse rider he has seen numerous friends be airlifted via air ambulance, and this drove him to organise an auction of promises for the charity which generated around £30,000 in funds.

As a keen advocate for the charity he then went on to join the New Heli Appeal as a Board member, and helped to raise nearly £100,000 towards the AW169 helicopter. Once the new aircraft was delivered he joined as a member of the Philanthropy Forum, which he chaired in 2021/22.

Jonathan said: “The teamwork and mutual support of the Philanthropy Forum is the most amazing asset we have, as a forum, and obviously we’re working towards generating funds for the helicopter, so the crew and paramedics are just such an amazing inspiration. For us, that drives us forward to deliver the funds and keep the helicopter in the air.

“The helicopter speaks for itself and raises the profile for the charity, and every time most Cornish people hear a helicopter they look up to see if it’s the air ambulance. Everybody is genuinely enthused by the efforts and the support that the charity gives the people of Cornwall, and being involved in that is terrific. Doing what I can to help keep the helicopter in the air is a huge passion of mine.”

Now Jonathan has been appointed as an Ambassador for Cornwall Air Ambulance, joining the likes of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, Dr Karen J Dickens, Jackie Stanley D.L., Paul and Emma Ainsworth, and Gordon and Tana Ramsay.

He added: “It’s very humbling to have been put forward, some of the other names on the side of the helicopter who are ambassadors are serious players, I like to do my bit and I like to help support the trustees and the whole infrastructure of Cornwall Air Ambulance, but it’s genuinely humbling to be appointed an Ambassador.

“I’m most looking forward to working with the other ambassadors to raise the profile of the charity even further, and to deliver future projects that are coming, so with the best of our efforts we can continue our fundraising and support the needs for the charity.”
