New Ambassadors: Michelin-Starred Chef Paul Ainsworth & Wife Emma

Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth and his wife Emma are cooking up support for Cornwall Air Ambulance’s New Heli Appeal after pledging to become charity ambassadors.

The appeal which is celebrating after hitting its first milestone of £100,000 will now benefit from the support of the couple, who together run the renowned restaurant Paul Ainsworth at No.6, in Padstow.

Stirred to support the lifesaving charity’s £2.5m appeal to bring a next generation helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly by April 2020 Paul and Emma said:

“We are delighted to be ambassadors for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Being based in Padstow, we see first-hand the vital emergency medical treatment they bring to our community and we couldn’t think of a better cause to collaborate with.

“We are particularly looking forward to helping raise the £2.5 million for the New Heli Appeal. We’ll be supporting events held by the Cornwall Air Ambulance team and will be holding events of our own to raise as much as we can by 2020.

“The new helicopter will be invaluable to our community and will allow the air ambulance to carry on with the brilliant work it does for Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly”.

The New Heli Appeal was launched in April this year and aims to raise £2.5m to buy an AW169 helicopter that will save more time and more lives for the next 20 years.

The faster, more powerful, medically advanced aircraft will enable the Cornwall Air Ambulance crew to take the skill and equipment of a hospital emergency room to the patient at the roadside, on a cliff top or at the beach.

It will provide an ‘A&E’ for the skies, giving more space for lifesaving treatment and increasing the chance of patient survival. It will also have double the fuel range of the current aircraft allowing crews to travel to emergencies back-to-back without the need to stop and refuel.

Amy Richards, the charity’s New Heli Appeal Manager, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Paul and Emma for pledging their support to the New Heli Appeal. As ambassadors, they will help shine a spotlight on this vital campaign to buy the air ambulance helicopter that Cornwall truly deserves.

“Paul and Emma have built their lives and successful business in Padstow, and it is wonderful to see they are further investing in the future of their community by supporting the New Heli Appeal to bring a new lifesaving helicopter to Cornwall.”

An incredible £100,000 has been raised in just over two months since the launch of the New Heli Appeal thanks to generosity of the people of Cornwall and beyond, but there is a still a long way to go. Find out how you can support the New Heli Appeal today by visiting cornwallairambulancetrust.org/appeal, or text HELI20 followed by the amount you want to give 70070.

As well as running Paul Ainsworth at No.6, Paul and Emma also operate Padstow Townhouse and Rojanos in the Square.

Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is the charity that fundraises to operate the helicopter emergency medical service for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Every year our helicopter responds to around 700 emergency calls for help and is on-scene at an incident in an average of just 12 minutes. The helicopter can reach patients in any part of Cornwall, significantly reducing the time taken to get seriously ill patients the treatment they need – in hospital or on-scene.
It costs £3.5m per year to operate this service, and with no National Lottery or direct government funding, the charity relies on the generosity of the people and businesses of Cornwall.
