Talland Bay Hotel raises over £40,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance

The Talland Bay Hotel in Talland Bay have been the most amazing and generous supporters of the Cornwall Air Ambulance’s New Heli Appeal and continue to support the charity to keep the new helicopter flying.

Owner Dr Kevin O’Sullivan joined the New Heli appeal board and with his wife Teresa, Managers Jack & Lucy, Chef Nick Hawke and Team Talland, they became an appeal force!

The hotel hosted the Appeal’s first charity lunch raising over £6k, closely followed by a second charity lunch with celebrity Talland Bay residents, Richard & Judy, raising over £22k.

Barbara Sharples, Trustee and New Heli appeal board Chair said, ‘Jack & Lucy were brilliant in creating unique charity lunch experiences and made the organisation of both events fun and profitable. Chef Nick and his team created the most amazing and delicious menus, that were a feast to the eyes and taste buds.  In addition they have promoted the charity to all their guests, seeing a regular supply of donations. The charity continues to plan future events with the hotel and can never thank Kevin & Teresa & Team Talland enough for their amazing and ongoing support’

Dr Kevin said, “The whole team at Talland Bay Hotel took the Cornwall Air Ambulance, New Heli Appeal to their hearts and there is little they have not done to raise around £40,000; organising and delivering traditional, sit-down, fund-raising events and a sponsored run along the Coastal Path, to fashioning Christmas reindeer out of face-towels and painting beach pebbles, both sold at our reception desk; they have been amazing. As we said to our donor guests ‘the life you save may be your own’, so it is for all of us.”

General Manager Jack said; “It has been an incredible ride so far! Lucy and I are really quite proud of what we as the Talland Family have achieved, we hope to do more for the charity. We have some great suppliers that we work with who we are very grateful for and they will hopefully continue to support not only us but the heli appeal too! I always feel a sense of pride when I do see the helicopter fly by with a sense of “Yeah, we helped make that happen”
