Bradbury Foundation officially open new crew training room following £100,000 grant funding

A new training room for the clinical crew has been officially opened by the Bradbury Foundation, thanks to a £100,000 grant.

The Bradbury Training Room is located in the new Operations Wing, which was completed in autumn 2022, at Cornwall Air Ambulance HQ in Newquay.

The training room provides the Critical Care Paramedics and Doctors with a dedicated space to run scenario training, to simulate interventions using the highly advanced simbody manikins and also an additional space for clinical governance meetings.

A successful funding bid was secured through the Bradbury Foundation, a charitable trust who help benefit UK charities.

Hugh Inman, UK representative at the Bradbury foundation said: “I want to thank you for organising my visit. The ribbon cutting for the Bradbury Training Room was a surprise, the training room looks fantastic, it was very kind of you all to arrange it. I am delighted to be able to report back to the team in Hong Kong how wonderful the training room looked and what a great asset it will be for the crew at Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust as they continue upskilling and training for every eventuality.”

With two new Trainee Critical Care Paramedics having joined this year, and with several new doctors due to join the team soon, dedicated training facilities are more important than ever for the clinical crew.

Debbie Henshaw, Head of Strategic Giving at Cornwall Air Ambulance, added: “We are delighted to have secured funding through the Bradbury Foundation for a new training room. It was wonderful to welcome Hugh to the airbase to look around, and to see what a difference the funding has made to our crew facilities. Having the dedicated training space allows the clinicians to be able to advance their clinical skills and medical training. This will help them to deliver the very best level of care on scene, and ultimately help to save even more lives.”
