Cornwall Air Ambulance has launched an innovation in charity donations at its retail store in Truro.
The lifesaving charity now has a contactless donation window at the front of the store, allowing shoppers to donate at any time of the day.
The charity worked with Liberty Pay to implement the technology.
Customers who walk past the shop in Victoria Square will be able to tap their card or smart phone on the contactless payment point on the window to donate a fixed fee of £3. Once they have donated, an interactive screen will play a video showing the difference their donation will make.
Jackie Southon, Director of Fundraising for Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We are really excited to launch the new contactless window. It’s a first for the charity and perhaps even for Cornwall. With less people carrying cash on the high street, it’s important to be able to offer an alternative for supporters to donate. With this in place, it gives shoppers a quick and easy way to contribute to the charity even when the shop is closed.
“The display itself is interactive and eye-catching, so we think it will also attract more people to the shop and drive footfall.”
