A former patient from the Isles of Scilly has very kindly left a gift in her Will to Cornwall Air Ambulance after both she and her husband were airlifted.
Ursula Schweer, known as Usch, chose to leave a lasting legacy to your charity after sadly passing away.
Neighbour and friend, Mark Praeger, was the Executor to her Will. He told us: “The air ambulance was very much close to Usch’s heart, with her and her husband both having used it a few times. Gunnar had heart problems and he was rushed away on quite a few occasions, she had a couple of incidents, including falling and breaking her hip. It’s an absolutely vital service to the islands.
“I think Cornwall Air Ambulance is vital, particularly to the islands. Cornwall is a long county with lots of rural areas and the isles in particular are cut off. It would feel even more cut off if the possibility of the air ambulance coming over wasn’t there.”
Gifts in Wills fund one third of our missions across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly each year; and we are proud to be supporting Remember a Charity Week, running from 11-17th September 2023. The awareness week celebrates the individuals who leave behind an unforgettable legacy.
Legacy gifts ensure the future of our critical care service and are a vital source of income to keep your helicopter flying. With the crew attending over 1,000 missions each year, gifts left in Wills account for over 350 missions and potential lives saved.
Debbie Henshaw, Senior Fundraising Manager at Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “Every legacy will help us save more lives. Each gift helps us to provide the transport, equipment and training needed to enable our crew to respond to someone’s absolute worst day and provide critical care. Our lifesaving work would not be possible without the generosity of our supporters, including those who kindly leave a gift in their Will. By leaving a legacy to Cornwall Air Ambulance, no matter the size, you can help to save lives for generations to come. Thank for remembering us in this way alongside your family and friends.”
Every gift in every Will, regardless of size, makes a difference. It can be a simple yet meaningful way to ensure that Cornwall Air Ambulance can continue to save lives in the future. For more information, please visit cornwallairambulancetrust.org/remember-a-charity/
