As we get ready to bring in the new year, Cornwall Air Ambulance has announced an exciting new programme of challenges and events which will be taking place across 2024.

With a mixture of overseas and UK challenges on offer, the charity is offering a wide range of activities from triathlons, to treks, to skydives.

Rob Foster, Fundraising Officer for Events & Challenges, said: “We’ve got some fantastic events this year and it’s a great opportunity to get involved during our #heli2 appeal. We’ve also got some amazing overseas events, providing guaranteed memories for a lifetime as well as the opportunity to meet new friends. It would make such a difference to our fundraising at Cornwall Air Ambulance to have people signing up to these events and challenges as we look to raise the funds we need for your new helicopter, which will help us save even more lives.”

You can help us bring a second AW169 helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, by getting involved in our events or taking on a challenge. Your support will actively help to save more lives.

“As a long time supporter of the air ambulance I really wanted to do something to raise money and awareness for this amazing cause, and as a long time aviation geek I thought jumping out of a plane was a perfect way to do it!
“The air ambulance crews do an incredible job of saving lives and helping people all year around. So I was enormously proud to be able to do something to help”.

Our key events:

Sunday 28th April – our second Alternative Triathlon. The Swim-SUP-Run is coming back to Siblyback Lake, Liskeard. A fun, challenging sporting event where individuals or teams of three will swim 750m, SUP 1.5K and Run 5K.

Saturday 6th July – Helifest. We are delighted to bring our family friendly summer festival to Scorrier House. With great food and drink, children’s entertainment and live music, the day is fun for all the family. It’s a real celebration of blue light services, with some great demonstrations, as well as the chance to meet some of the Cornwall Air Ambulance crew and see the helicopter.

Saturday 19th October – the return of Runway Runaround. Calling all runners, we have our great challenge taking place at Perranporth Airfield, where a children’s 2.5K run and an adults 10K run taking place.

“I think living in Cornwall we’re very aware of the air ambulance, we see it all the time flying over where we live. When I thought I should use this opportunity to raise money I straight away thought Cornwall Air Ambulance, we’re so lucky to have it. You’re always there if we need you, and it could affect me or my family in some point in my life.”

“I was absolutely devastated that I’d used funds – well-needed funds – for myself so I ws really upset about that, so I started looking on the website pages for fundraising. With the Snowdon challenge, I just thought I’ll be able to do that by then. It’s an achievable goal and will be good. If I could say anything to the crew right now, it would just be ‘thank you’”.
