Supporters open gardens to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance

Residents from across Cornwall are inviting people into their gardens to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

With many private gardens opening their doors to the public, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy rarely seen horticultural gems, including a wide variety of flora and fauna. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to buy a range of plants and refreshments at select gardens, including cream teas, tea and coffee, and cakes.

The gardens offer exclusive views of stunning locations throughout Cornwall, including the beautiful Polzeath Beach, peaceful Fowey Harbour and estuary, the secluded Gover Valley, and the atmospheric Caradon Hill and Bodmin Moor. Each location is a unique showcase of the resident’s individual style and expertise.

Sherelle Puertas, Fundraising Officer for Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with a group of keen gardeners who have kindly opened their grounds to the public. Cornwall Air Ambulance relies on the generosity of the community to keep the helicopter flying. This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy beautiful, private Cornish gardens whilst supporting your local lifesaving charity.”

The next open garden is at Higher Balstyle near Truro on Saturday 26 June, which features a beautiful 2-acre woodland, an orchard and a rare walled garden. To celebrate sharing the week with National Cream Tea Day, the hosts will be selling cream teas as part of the Heli Cream Tea campaign for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The events are ongoing throughout the year from now until September.
