This Volunteers’ Week, join the Cornwall Air Ambulance team in helping to save lives.
Your local lifesaving charity is on the search for new volunteers to join their ‘Groundcrew’ and help out in their shops, at events and at their HQ base.
The Groundcrew are instrumental in helping to keep our daily operation running. Volunteering roles include assisting on charity stands at events, delivering talks about our work out in the community, helping to collect charity jars from local businesses and assisting with admin at our head office, as well as serving customers, sorting donated goods and creating window displays in our shops. In particular, we are looking for volunteers to help in our new Truro shop and at our events.
Volunteer Carol Kimberley said: “For me, volunteering is a personal way I can say thank you to the team. Years ago my father was rescued following an accident at a horse show. To hear that helicopter coming, and then to see it landing was amazing! As a family we were just so grateful for the chance to have my father helped and taken to safety so quickly. Volunteering perhaps helps a little towards saying thank you!”
Volunteer to help our lifesaving work
With charity shops located in Helston, Camborne, Newquay, Wadebridge, St Austell, Bodmin, Launceston, and soon-to-be Truro, plus a whole calendar of charity events, there are opportunities right across the county.
Volunteer Susie Kelly added: “By volunteering, I get to meet people from many walks of life. I have made some wonderful friendships, both with those who work for the charity and those who volunteer.”
Whether you are able to give a few hours a week, or even a month, by giving your time you will be helping to keep your helicopters flying.
Jackie Eastwood, Volunteer Manager, said: “Volunteering with Cornwall Air Ambulance is incredibly rewarding, not only will you get to learn new skills and gain experience in retail and events, but you’ll also get to meet lots of new people and make new friends. Our Groundcrew are the heartbeat of our work here at the charity, as without their support we would not be able to carry out our lifesaving work. We would love for you to join the Cornwall Air Ambulance Groundcrew family.”
Volunteers’ Week 2025 is running from the 2nd to the 8th June.
