Give your time to help our lifesaving mission

Groundcrew Logo

Volunteers are vital to the success of our charity shops, they enable the charity to benefit from fundraising events taking place throughout the county and they act as important ambassadors in the community.

In return they have fun, learn new skills, meet people and make new friends. Some are retired while others are between jobs or gaining experience to broaden their skillset.

Whether they give a few hours a month or a day or two each week, every one of them is helping to keep Cornwall Air Ambulance flying. This is why we call our team of volunteers ‘Groundcrew’.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help support at our Superstores in Bodmin, Camborne and St Austell.

Roles that we are looking to fill include Till Operators, Window Dressers, PAT Tester, and volunteers to help support with a wide range of duties including furniture, books, clothes.

How can I volunteer?

Our charity shops

Our charity shops are a hive of activity, perfect for socialising. Volunteers sort and price donated goods, create window displays and serve customers in our shops in Camborne, Helston, Newquay, St Austell and Wadebridge.

Proud to be investing in our volunteers' success

Volunteers truly are the heartbeat of the charity and we work hard to provide you with an environment in which you can thrive, tailoring your role to suit your skills, availability and needs to help you reach your goals. Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is proud to be an Investing in Volunteers (IiV) achiever, having been awarded the quality mark/standard in 2022 for the second time.

Investing in Volunteers is unique in that it is the only standard that focuses on volunteers. It is based on the following six quality areas:

Man a stall or dress up at an exciting event

Cornwall Air Ambulance is supported by so many events throughout the county. Volunteers represent the charity at them by manning a stall, selling raffle tickets, guiding the car parking or even dressing up as the charity mascot Aircrew Andy! It’s a great way to meet people and enjoy the best of Cornwall’s events.

Play a vital role in our office headquarters

There are many opportunities to help at the Newquay airbase with plenty of opportunities to see the air ambulance.

Reception is run by volunteers and this varied role includes answering phones, welcoming visitors and computer work.

The fundraising office is always seeking extra help with telephone liaison, computer research and straightforward database work.

Volunteers are vital to collecting and counting the funds raised in the jars sitting on counters throughout the county – a great reason to get out and about.

Represent our cause in your community

Volunteers frequently represent the charity by speaking to community groups, schools and clubs, and attending cheque presentations. It’s a rewarding way to be involved.

If you’re interested in joining the Groundcrew team please complete the form below, call Jackie Eastwood on 01637 838946 or email volunteering@cornwallairambulancetrust.org.
