Chloe-Mae’s Story

SEARCH OTHER STORIES

Chloe-Mae Warne is eight years old and has cerebral palsy after being born at 26 weeks. On the afternoon of 12th January Chloe-Mae suffered a seizure while at her grandparents’ home in Roche.

Her mother Leah was called at work and rushed to the house. She found Chloe-Mae fitting and unresponsive so she called the ambulance.

Cornwall Air Ambulance left the Newquay airbase at 16.35 and landed on the football pitch at Roche just 10 minutes later. The land ambulance took Chloe-Mae and Leah to the helicopter which flew them to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske in 12 minutes.

Leah said: “The care the crew gave to Chloe-Mae was second to none – absolutely fantastic! I couldn’t believe how quickly they got us to the hospital, it was very impressive. Also, I’m not keen on flying but the crew were great with the reassurance they gave me.”

Since it was dark the crew used the night vision equipment to take Chloe-Mae to hospital and to return to base after the mission. Without this specialist equipment, the air ambulance would not have been able to airlift Chloe-Mae to the hospital care that was so critical.
