More than 600 runners took part in the Cornwall Air Ambulance Runway Runaround on Sunday (3 November).
The 10km race around Newquay Airport has so far raised over £34,500 for the New Heli Appeal.
Despite the wind and rain, runners turned up in force for the race which set off just after 8am.
Sarah Walker, Events & Challenges Fundraising Officer for Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We had a fantastic turnout for this year’s Runway Runaround. Over 600 people took on the challenge to raise money for the new helicopter. The wind and rain certainly didn’t dampen any spirits- the atmosphere was fantastic.
“A huge well done to all our runners, but also the amazing volunteers who stood in the rain for hours to ensure everyone made it round the route safely. I’d like to thank Cornwall Airport Newquay for allowing us exclusive access to this unique route and to our sponsors, Bishop Fleming, and all the suppliers who helped make it such a successful event.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who raised money for the appeal- it makes a huge difference.”
