Karen Hurn

Philanthropy Manager

Karen joined the team in November 2019 to develop major donor relationships.

Since joining the charity Karen has worked closely with the Cornwall Air Ambulance Philanthropy Forum who volunteer and work tirelessly to raise money for CAAT. In May 2022 Karen took on the role of chair of the forum. Following a successful career in senior corporate banking, working with significant businesses and high net worth individuals has given Karen a wealth of experience, skills and an extensive network.

She was inspired to transform her hobby of charity fundraising into a new career and has already gained her Chartered Institute of Fundraising Diploma. Prior to her career change, Karen had personally raised over £350,000 for many local and national good causes. Proud of her Cornish roots, Karen is motivated by the compassion and community spirit shown by people in Cornwall and beyond and is an active member of St Austell & District Soroptimist.

She is thrilled to be working for this worthwhile, lifesaving charity, alongside the rest of the incredible Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust team.

Debbie Henshaw

Senior Fundraising Manager

Debbie joined the charity in January 2018. Debbie manages the charity’s growing Legacy, Lottery, Trust & Grants portfolio. She also leads the fundraising team.

Following a successful career spanning disciplines in social services, media and mainstream politics, where she led both local and national campaigns, Debbie was inspired to ‘give something back’ by moving into a career in the charity sector. Debbie has developed a successful career in the third sector, with over 15 years of experience, underpinning her caring nature with academic qualifications. She previously worked at senior levels for well-respected Cornish charities that have also touched her family including Cornwall Hospice Care and Cornwall Blind Association.

A fundraising professional, Debbie attained the ‘Diploma in Fundraising’, at the Institute of Fundraising. She also studied at the Institute of Legacy Management with the University of Law , where she gained the ‘CiCLA’ qualification in Legacy Management. Recently she qualified with a Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership.

Debbie’s father was airlifted by the Air Ambulance over 30 years ago, she knows only too well the life-changing difference that the service makes to people and their families. Debbie enjoys working with and meeting all the great people who help keep the Cornwall Air Ambulance flying.

In Memory, Lottery and Legacy Officer

Rachel Harradine is originally from Lancashire and relocated to Cornwall to her husband’s family home with their three sons 9 years ago. She’s reinvented her working life a number of times over the years, but most recently, has been a Teaching Assistant in a local primary school. Now her children are older, it felt the time was right for another change and she’s proud to have joined the team at Cornwall Air Ambulance. When she’s not working or running around after the family, she loves to bake and to balance that out enjoys walking around the local coastline and beaches!

Julia Jeffery

Corporate Fundraising Officer

Being born and raised in beautiful Cornwall, the Cornwall Air Ambulance is a charity that’s very close to Julia’s heart, even more-so after the service was once despatched for her son.

With a degree in Marketing, Julia has had a career spanning the telecoms, retail and charitable sectors in the areas of event management, proposition development to acquire and retain customers and customer loyalty. Having returned to Cornwall in 2013, Julia started working in the charitable sector for the National Trust. In this role, she engendered support, loyalty and income largely through building strong relationships, capitalising on new opportunities and engaging and inspiring diverse audiences to raise much needed funds.
Knowing how vital the Cornwall Air Ambulance is to people’s lives in the county and beyond, Julia jumped at the opportunity apply for the role of Fundraising Officer for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and joined the team in 2021.

Julia and her family love spending time at the stunning Cornish coast and with a new bike, she may be seeing more of Cornwall on 2 wheels!

Sherelle Puertas

Individual & Regular Giving Fundraising Officer

With six years’ experience in fundraising and marketing, Sherelle has gained a wealth of experience in the retail, education and not-for-profit sectors. Previously working at Children’s Hospice South West as an Area Fundraiser for Plymouth and East Cornwall, Sherelle organised a range of virtual events, gave inspiring talks to corporates and community groups, managed volunteers and friends’ groups whilst supporting a corporates and individuals with their fundraising.

Sherelle completed her degree in French and Spanish in 2013, and decided she wanted to pursue her passion for marketing and event management. Starting as a volunteer at a small Plymouth children’s charity, Jeremiah’s Journey, she soon realised her passion for being out in the community and inspiring individuals and groups to support such a worthwhile cause. She firstly headed up the marketing at Jeremiah’s Journey, and then became a Corporate and Community Fundraiser a year later.

She is excited to bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as Fundraising Officer at Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Morwenna Smart

Community Fundraising Officer

Morwenna is our Community Fundraising Officer. Her background is in Community Engagement, and she has previously worked on a Jobseeker Support Programme and as an apprentice in the Marine Team at Cornwall Wildlife Trust. She grew up in Cornwall, regularly horse-riding, running and sea swimming so has always been very aware of the wonderful work Cornwall Air Ambulance does and that it may well be her who needs it one day. Morwenna is very excited to join the fundraising team and do her bit to help. A fun fact about her is that she’s a qualified Snorkel Leader!

Rob Foster

Rob Foster

Events & Challenges Fundraising Officer

Originally from the South West in Somerset, Rob decided to move to Cornwall seeing it as the perfect place to raise his family and enjoy the beautiful Cornish coastline. In his career to date, Rob has spent 17 years in the events, hospitality and tourism industries. His work allowed him to live and travel extensively around the world, experiencing many different cultures along the way. He joins us at the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust because he wanted his next event role to give something back and feels the Cornwall Air Ambulance is a unique and rewarding service/charity that will allow him to play a small part in its ongoing success and continue its vital work.

In his personal life he is an avid sportsman who plays football and golf on the land but likes nothing more than being in the ocean. Having gained all the necessary qualifications Rob also teaches a variety of water sports including kayaking and Stand-up Paddleboarding, Surfing and Coasteering amongst others.

Jen Morgan

Fundraising Officer

Having volunteered for Cornwall Air Ambulance for over five years, Jen is now delighted to join the fundraising team at HQ. Jen studied at Bournemouth University achieving a degree in Hospitality Management before her career took her to the heart of London where she managed a successful wine merchants. Born in Cornwall, the county was calling her home and once settled back into Cornish life, Jen joined Cornish Gems Holidays as Marketing Manager where she enjoyed over 10 years. Whilst the hospitality industry continued to challenge, Jen left in Spring 2023 with the drive to focus her skills, energy and passion to a more supportive community purpose, a more philanthropic career.

When the weekends come around, Jen spends her time renovating her mini-barn, heading up to hike on the moors with her partner, Tim, and labrador, Otto, and this year looks forward to getting back to gig rowing.

Bobby Billinghurst

Supporter Care Officer

Having relocated to Cornwall from Cambridgeshire in March 2018, Bobby saw an opportunity to go on a bit of an adventure and experience a change in lifestyle and take time to enjoy the countryside and take in the sea air, now living only five minutes from the beach.

Bobby spent nearly 12 years working with Cambridgeshire County Council in various roles. He was asked to organise the Christmas appeal for Children’s Social Care, receiving presents for children in need who may not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas time. He really enjoyed arranging these so when the opportunity came up to work for Cornwall Air Ambulance he jumped at the chance. Since joining the team he particularly enjoys meeting all the amazing people who help keep the air ambulance flying.

Donna Fisher

Supporter Care Officer

Donna joined Cornwall Air Ambulance in 2014 as the shop manager at the charity’s store in Newquay. With a career spanning over 20 years in retail, Donna played a pivotal role in getting the store up and running in the town. In March 2021, Donna moved from retail to join the fundraising team in the role of Fundraising and Database Administrator to enjoy a greater work/life balance.

Originally from Bristol, Donna now calls Cornwall home, where she lives with her young son. In her spare time she has signed up for several challenges, including the Three Peaks and a skydive…along with running the distance between Land’s End and John O’Groats.

Chris Hastings

Charity Jar Collector

Chris spends his time driving the width and breadth of Cornwall collecting and delivering charity donation jars. He visits camp sites, holiday parks, pubs, garages and shops in different regions every day. He enjoys the stunning scenery and now has an extensive road map of the county in his head!

Chris moved from Salisbury to Cornwall in 1999. He had spent the majority of his career in the motor trade work as an auto-electrician but decided that he’d like a more balanced work and home life. He and his wife have two young boys and the family enjoy taking advantage of the beaches and generally being outside in this lovely part of the world.
