Steve joined the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust team in October 2018, although he has worked with the charity as a consultant since 2010 helping to deliver several major projects from the construction of the Operating Base and Charity HQ in Newquay to the selection of our current helicopter operator and procurement of new aircraft.
Having originally trained as an engineer and worked in the aviation sector since 1990, Steve has worked on the design, development and support of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as an engineer, project manager, in business development and as a business director for two large multinational aerospace companies.
In 2005, Steve and partner Avril setup their own consultancy business to deliver project and business management services. This has allowed Steve to work across a range of diverse projects, including Air Traffic Control Systems, the construction of Newquay Airport, train planning for Network Rail, new technologies for offshore wind turbines, innovative research projects in digital & data systems and building a Cornish pasty factory. Steve has also worked with a number of other air ambulance charities to deliver strategically important projects ranging from the selection of new aircraft, mobilising new areas of service delivery such as night flying, supporting the management of day to day operations, analysing operational data and establishing new models for delivery of clinical service. Steve hopes to bring this wealth of experience to support the ongoing development of Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Outside of work Steve enjoys spending time with family (Avril, Emily and Alasdair), walking their dogs, beard growing, cooking, gardening, classic car restoration and retro Volkswagen Campervans. Steve does not enjoy golf and as a result a hardly used set of clubs will soon be available to purchase at one of our charity shops.
Steve is the interim Chief Executive Officer.
